When it comes to the topic of climate change, we often hear about "tipping points". With tipping points, climate scientists refer to critical thresholds that, once crossed, can boost huge and potentially irreversible changes in the climate system that can have very negative consequences for humans and nature, for ex. through accelerated global warming (cp. A group of more than 200 scientists has now shouted out a warning to the UN, pressuring it to prioritize climate tipping points, by producing their own tipping points report, outside the IPCC, to be released in time for the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference ("COP28") in Dubai.
