As the 2023 growth of global green energy capacity was the fastest in the last 20 years, with an increase of 50%, it puts a key climate target within reach, says the International Energy Agency. What's also a hope-giving surprise is that authoritarian China was the main contributor to this amazing increase. This is a clear sign that renewable energy is globally starting to be seen not only as good for the climate, but also as beneficial for the national economy (e.g. through cheaper and more autonomous energy production) and national health (e.g. through better air quality and less nuclear waste problems or a lower nuclear accident risk - compare positive tipping points theory). Besides China, also Europe, the United States and Brazil saw record growths.
