While electric cars do have significant environmental and health advantages over ICE cars, their purchase costs are still higher. The price differences vary from country to country, as government subsidies for the purchase of electric cars vary as well. The currently main electric Volkswagen, the "ID.4", is offered from $38,995 at the moment, while a conventional "Jetta", for instance, is starting at $20,665. Also the market share of EVs is still very low seen globally, while varying a lot from country to country. The "passenger plug-in market share of total new car sales" in 2022 was only about 13% globally. To exemplary name a few countries and regions, the market share of newly sold EVs 2022 in China was already about 30%, in the US only about 7%, in Europe about 23%, and in Norway about 87%.
